Samantha & Justin’s Chic Jungle Destination Wedding at the Viceroy in Playa Del Carmen, Mexico!

Finally, the moment you have all been waiting for…Samantha and Justin’s epic Playa Del Carmen Destination wedding weekend at The Viceroy Riviera Maya, Mexico!

Not only do I LOVE Playa del Carmen, Mexico and feel like the Viceroy here is a hidden gem, but Samantha and Justin couldn’t be more in love and gorgeous to photograph!  You may remember them from my blog from their NYC engagement shoot on the Highline.  I knew after that shoot that their wedding was going to be ridiculously fun and beautiful.

What I love about the Viceroy is that it is a boutique resort, so you can take over the entire hotel for the weekend and only be surrounded by the people you love.  They have resident wedding crasher spider monkeys that literally join cocktail hour on two legs like they are one of the guests…hilarious, and the walkways through the resort make you feel like you are in the jungle with waterfalls and hidden nooks. The Viceroy has their own private pier and beach and no matter where you are, it is beautiful.

Samantha is a fashionista and owns CAMI in NYC and she designed and made all of the bridesmaids dresses!  Her own dress though, she left up to Israeli designer, Lee Grebenau, and I was completely obsessed with it.  It was all lace and so delicate it could be folded into a small box as a carryon!  I have never seen anything like it, it was so beautiful and fit Sam like a glove.

After perfect weather, no rain, and a ton of dancing…everyone ended up jumping into the pool (myself included!).  You know it’s a great wedding, when at 2am you are ordering pizzas to the pool and the entire wedding is drinking cocktails in the water!  But the craziness didn’t end there!

The next day, Samantha, Justin, Kelli and I went on a Cenote Odyssey to shoot “Trash the dress” photos at Grand Cenote.  After stopping by two cenotes to check them out, we finally found a gorgeous crystal clear cave cenote to shoot in. This stunning freshwater lagoon was the most beautiful green/turquoise color, but they specifically told us that we were not allowed to shoot there.  After driving an hour hungover to get there, I was determined not return empty handed, so we snuck in, put their suit and gown on in the cave while swimming and we shot photos until we were literally…forcibly removed from the cenote and blacklisted from ever returning again!!  But we got the photos!

Luckily, I gave a fake name and we had a getaway car, but honestly, it’s not a great Destination Wedding unless you almost end up in a Mexican Jail in your soaked Bridal clothing!! lol  Love you guys, you were such good sports!  I hope the Maldives was amazing on your honeymoon..welcome back!
