I have to thank the fabulous Laurie Davies of 5 Star Weddings and Events for introducing me to Kaitlin and Sonny. Not only are they the best couple and their love is super inspiring to witness, but the story of how they met and fell in love is such a tale about how even bad things in life, happen for good reasons. At least that has always been MY belief:) We totally hit it off during their engagement shoot in Venice and the best part about it all is now they are my new neighbors! We had a moment where I had driven past this red wall and totally wanted to take them there to photograph against it. It had a mural that said, “Anything Can Happen, Anything Can Be” and I thought it was a beautiful message…turns out when Sonny first came to LA, he saw that wall and took a photo of it and loved it. So we were like kindred spirits!
Kaitlin and Sonny got married on the bluffs of The Ritz Carlton in Laguna Niguel. Kaitlin’s dress was a stunning multilayered, lace dress that was like a princess, but the best part was her black and red color scheme. Black flower girl and bridesmaids dress with black lace, gloves and black flowergirl baskets. Even better were the two little ring bearer girls wearing a black tux and tails with a black skirt. It was adorable! Why not have all girls??
It was overcast with a dramatic sky all day, my favorite with the clouds, but right as Kaitlin’s father was giving an amazingly touching toast, the sunset sunk below the cloud layer and was epic. I took them both out for some romantic twilight photos on the balcony and then everyone literally DID NOT stop dancing until the music was done! Late night Mexican Food and chocolate-covered strawberries were the perfect late night parting snack! It was a simple, perfect day full of a lot of celebrations for so many reasons!
Congratulations Kaitlin and Sonny! Enjoy Hawaii, you two earned it!
