Kristy and Adrian came all the way from Denver, Colorado to have their destination wedding near the gorgeous beaches of California. The day they arrived, we experienced the STRANGEST weather in Los Angeles, what we dubbed here on the west coast “stormpocalypse”!. I felt so bad and I just prayed on the wedding day that the rain would hold off long enough to go out and shoot some fun photos on Venice Beach. My prayers were answered and we literally had a window of 45 minutes of dry weather, but it made for epic, dramatic, clouds and beach photos! I have never in all of my years of living here seen the waves so crazy and high. There was a crowd of tourists on the beach filming the waves when we got there and we just added to the whole spectacle:)
They got married at the nearby Visitation Church and Adrian wore his Marine Corps dress blues. It made the whole ceremony look like a fairy tale and you could tell these two could not wait another second to be married:) Afterwards, we went to Fort Mac Arthur Air Force Base, which I didn’t even know existed in San Pedro. Literally, the entrance to the base is in a residential neighborhood and it was like a hidden world in there.
The rain did not put a damper on their festivities. In fact, I think people partied even harder lol! I loved walking around their reception and checking out all of the little hand-made details that Kristy put together for their wedding day. They had stacks of Law books, little love signs, photos from their college days, and just a fun mixture of props that show a story of who they are as a couple. Really cute! Their crazy space monkey stuffed animal was a raging party-a-holic and you definitely will see cameos of him throughout the wedding. I am not sure the entire story behind that creature, but it was hilarious to see people’s reactions to him! Thank you both for including me in the festivities of your most special day! I had such a blast with you guys!
