I am SO excited to be shooting Kim and Matt’s wedding at the Viceroy Hotel in Playa del Carmen, Mexico this June. It has been a dream of mine to do a “trash-the-dress” shoot in the Cenotes of Mexico and now I have the PERFECT couple to do it with! These two were introduced to me by the fabulous Destination Coordinator extraordinaire, Katie Tiffany, and are SO my kind of people:) They live together in Hollywood, so for their shoot they chose to stroll down memory lane and go revisit their first home together in Laurel Canyon and walk around their old hood. We had a blast visiting Pace, the old country store there, and driving like mad through the hills. I then remembered the old life-sized TV set that is near Amoeba records and we stopped by there for a minute to play around, but then Matt had a BRILLIANT idea. One that I am kind of kicking myself for not thinking of before (since it’s in my old hood), but he thought of going to Nick’s Metropolis on La Brea. This place is SO reminiscent of the Neon Museum in Vegas, but it’s like a kitchy sign graveyard right near my old apartment. I actually had a custom zebra-striped chaise lounge made for me there once…don’t ask… So we stopped by there and it was SO perfect. The lighting, colors, signs…I sort of had another David La Chapelle Geek out moment. I LOVED the photos we got there. Finally, we ended the day with some cute pics of them walking their dog, Buddy back at their house. For me, the day was also strolling down memory lane. I spent 8 years living in their hood in Hollywood, and although I am a total westsider now, I had some of the best years of my life there. Thank you guys for SUCH a fun day!
