Tara and Derek’s Engagement Shoot in Fairfax, Virginia
Finally, I get to blog about Tara and Derek’s adorable engagement shoot in Fairfax, Virginia on my last leg of my 6 week World Tour! They are going to be married in Annapolis, Maryland next June so since I was going to be visiting family in nearby Virginia we decided to get together for a fun-filled shoot. I even had my mom assist me on the shoot, holding a towel off-camera to dab Derek’s face since we were shooting in one of the hottest, most humid days of Summer in Virginia lol.
Derek and Tara chose to shoot around his mother’s home in Fairfax, because there is this gorgeous creek and walking nature trails in her neighborhood, as well as access to her kitchen to use for the finale of the shoot. There were two things that Tara and Derek wanted to showcase during their shoot; 1. She is a baker and has a side business making cupcakes, so she baked their wedding date into cake and wanted to do a fun kitchen scene with matching aprons (which I think was Derek’s idea:) and 2. Tara is OBSESSED with Hedgehogs. She has hedgehog everything…so much so that Derek bought her a pet hedgehog for Christmas named Dexter. Little did he know that he was going to get the important job of ring bearer at their upcoming wedding:) He may be the smallest and most grumpy ring bearer I have ever encountered and trying to get a bow tie and top hat on him was quite an ordeal! (If you look closely there is a hidden hedgehog statue in most of the scenes during the shoot.)
We basically all cracked up and laughed the entire shoot…not just because these two never stop laughing and having fun in each other’s presence, but because my mom was saying really inappropriate things off-camera to try to get them to kiss and in her little Cuban accent it was …well, embarrassingly hilarious. Oh, Mom! She even invited herself to assist me at their wedding…so we shall see:)
I am so glad I finally got to meet you Derek. You two are so lucky to have found each other and I can’t wait to all hang out again soon! XOXO
