I am so excited to be posting Erin and Dion’s Wedding for so many reasons. One, I was honored when Dion asked me to photograph his wedding, since he was the wedding photographer that hired me when I was 21 years old and gave me my first break and helped me to learn the confidence to start my own wedding photography business someday. Two, because working for Dion and Jay at Spence Studios was one of the most fun experiences in my life that I look back fondly on. We were like one big studio family and to think the ONLY bosses I have ever had in my life were Dion and Jay lol! 14 years later I found myself meeting Dion’s new bride, Erin, whom I love and is definitely Dion’s perfect match. Coming to their wedding was like a family reunion seeing everyone again. Three, I had been wanting the opportunity to shoot a wedding at Triunfo Creek Vineyards which is a fairly new wedding venue. The weather was gorgeous, the grounds so intimate, and it was the perfect elegant, yet “rustic chic” vibe for Ryan Larson, of Savoir Flair Weddings and her team to go nuts with on decor.
Ryan Larson also was part of our Spence Studios family, so it was all coming around full circle:) Mary Sushinski was the day of coordinator and everything went off without a hitch even with Mary’s torn Achilles Tendon I think she STILL carried heavier furniture and walked the property faster than anyone else! She is seriously a superhero! Ryan’s vision kept everything very natural and earthy, from the wildflowers and lanterns on the long wooden tables under strings of Edison lights, to the torn fabric hanging from the tree decorating the ceremony, bouquets and wine barrels, to the adorable wooden door to hand the place cards and the bird’s next ring bearer pillow…every detail was rustic and simple, yet elegant.
Erin and Dion have another huge milestone in their lives to celebrate! After only being engaged for about a week they found out their were pregnant! So this wedding was a celebration of Dion and Erin starting a new family as well. It was so cute to see how Dion was doting on her and his first kiss at the ceremony he shared one with Erin and one with her belly for their unborn child….SO adorable D!
I think the highlights of their wedding as if all of this was not enough, was Dion’s Officiant for the ceremony who is a host for the Lakers (Dion’s favorite team) and he basically roasted Dion during their ceremony but it was laugh-out-loud hilarious and probably the BEST ceremony I have ever witnessed and trust me I have seen a lot! And of course their INSANELY talented band who kept everyone dancing till we all had to get kicked out of there! What a fun night!
Congratulations Erin and Dion I hope you have relaxed a little this week (and gotten off your feet Erin!
