FINALLY, the EPIC wedding of the year is on the blog!! Monica y Ricardo (AKA Momia, Andres, Mash…) finally tied the knot! I had the extreme pleasure of being asked to come down to Guatemala and to shoot Monica y Momia’s wedding after our ridiculously fun engagement shoot last April in Antigua. So I decided to turn my Guatemala trip into an epic Guatemala Adventure Photography workshop and invited down a few of my favorite, fearless, female fotografas to join me. Jodee Debes, Ronda Gregorio, Sarah Natasha, and I formed #guatehotties and trekked all across Guatemala in 2 weeks. First stop was Tikal and Yaxha, then Antigua, then Lake Atitlan, and finalmente #bodorrioMM!!
We knew that their wedding “va a tirar la casa por la ventana” or was just going to be out of control, since both Momia and Monica have so many friends and are just AMAZING people. We were not disappointed and after 17 hours of photographing their epic wedding day, we HAD to join the insanity in order to survive!
Their wedding was how American weddings should be…all about coffee, alcohol, music and dancing…the party is the main focus and adding a tequila bar on the dance floor halfway through the night definitely kicked the party up a notch! They also had late night hot dogs and snacks for guests and basically TONS of alcohol and two amazing bands that never stopped playing. It was the perfect wedding with perfect weather and just fun people! I definitely didn’t realize how many photo bombs I did or that I even joined a conga line until I started editing these photos! It was so hilarious to relive the night through our photos! Everyone was sort of confused by our posse of 4 American photographers for the wedding lol. They had no idea that el Bodorrio was the last stop on our crazy Guatemalan Adventure Workshop!
We were so sad to have to say goodbye, but I KNOW that we will be back someday soon and we left knowing that we have a family to come visit now in Guatemala. Monica y Momia we love you both and we feel like you are our family now. Thank you SO much for being THE BEST hosts ever and welcoming not just me , but 4 of us into your wedding week adventures!
