Rebecca and Ari’s Wedding Weekend: Day One at Nobu, Malibu

What can I say about Rebecca and Ari?  I knew this would be an EPIC wedding weekend, but I didn’t REALLY know how amazing until it got started.  I woke up excited to work the whole weekend, because I knew that if Linda Howard was planning this affair, that it would not only be gorgeous and magazine-worthy, but it would be fun and full of surprises!  And she DID NOT disappoint!  It helps to have out together the “dream-team” of vendors, but it also REALLY helps to have a groom that has tons of experience producing charity events and a gorgeous bride that is low-key, fun, and that the camera LOVES:)

Their first day of their wedding weekend was at Nobu in Malibu.  This restaurant just opened this year and you are literally sitting right on the ocean waves. So much so, that I found myself having to raise my voice over the sound of the crashing waves to have a conversation sometimes…simply STUNNING!  They had one of our immaculate Summer-like days in January, that had a crystal clear view and people were out playing volleyball and surfing in the waves.

The whole theme was in gold and there were hanging gold curtains done by Pipe Dream and all sizes of candles not only lining the aisle, but on the tables. The golds against the ocean blues was a beautiful contrast (especially at twilight), and it gave the entire wedding a magical-feel to it.

Their ceremony was set right before sunset with an ornate chuppah of flowers that were backlit and glowing with the late afternoon light.  What was really unique was that Linda turned the room around for the reception and set it up in a way that Rebecca and Ari were sitting underneath the chuppah framing them at their sweetheart table. SO beautiful.

My highlights of the evening had to be the surprise performance by a Frankie Valli-inspired a capella  group, The Unexpected  Boys,  viewing their touching short video created by Nick and Colin from Blue Kite Cinema, sampling the tasty dessert by Vanilla Bake Shop, and of course getting to hang with one of my favorite photographers, Jillian Rose and the Blue Kite Boys.  What a FUN group of vendors!
